As a DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing – with his southern drawl, disarming smile and captivating green eyes – he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.
Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.
Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and mother of his beloved ten-year old daughter. Jenny is getting married — to someone who isn’t him.
That’s definitely not part of the plan.
Sofia Santos is a city raised, no-nonsense litigator who plans to become the most revered criminal defense attorney in the country. She doesn’t have time for relationships or distractions.
But when Stanton, her “friend with mind-blowing benefits” begs for help, she finds herself out of her element, out of her depth, and obviously out of her mind. Because she agrees to go with him – to The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Mississippi – to do all she can to help Stanton win back the woman he loves.
Her head tells her she’s crazy…and her heart says something else entirely.
What happens when you mix a one stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage and a gun-toting Nana?
The Bourbon flows, passions rise and even the best laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.
Sexy steamy novels with hot lawyers in it? Who would say no? I BET I would love this series!
Overruled is about chasing someone you have always been but only finding that what you have been looking for has always been in front of you. Yes it is quite a cliche but I honestly liked it. Sometimes people think that when you have a child with someone, you have to end up with that person. I don’t think so. I think that even though you have ties with someone, if they are not the one, then they aren’t.
Sofia! I loved her strength and independece and self confidence. Especially that part when Stanton’s sister went home with a hicky and she banged the boys down their throats to stop nagging at her. I loved it! One thing I just wanted to slap out of her was about how naive she was that Stanton also likes her. Yes it was a good thing that she didn’t expect anything but that scene where she went home in an instant, I can imagine all her pain not knowing all the time that Stanton loves her too.
Stanton! Yes this man is one stubborn hottie. He seems smart but he is dumb as a cactus in a dessert when it comes to matters if the heart. In that moment that he said he doesn’t want Sofia left behind because sheight end up with undeserving people has already ticked me that he is head over heels with our girl. I just hate that he needed a good drop from a tree to realize that.
The whole sabotaging your exes wedding plan was doomed from the start but I can see tbe point that Stanton needed to see that his daughter will be okay and his ex will be okay too because even if she didn’t end up with him, she will always be a big part of his heart.
Ps. I LOVE NANA!
In conclusion, I am giving 4 stars to this book just because it may be cliche but I love the writing and the emotions and this just puts the bar high for the whole series.
That’s it you guys, Thanks for reading! 😉
