Everybody likes everything these days. The whole world is a nerd.’
‘Are you mad because other people like Star Wars? Are you mad because people like me like Star Wars?’
If you broke Elena’s heart, Star Wars would spill out. So when she decides to queue outside her local cinema to see the new movie, she’s expecting a celebration with crowds of people who love Han, Luke and Leia just as much as she does.
What she’s not expecting is to be last in a line of only three people; to have to pee into a collectible Star Wars soda cup behind a dumpster or to meet that unlikely someone who just might truly understand the way she feels.
This is a short story about Elena and her adventures in a 4 day queue for a Star Wars Movie. I myself am not a fan of Star Wars ( don’t shoot! ) but I do understand the struggle of camping out for an event ( #CTCinPH ) so I know how hard it is. The thing I like most about this short story is that even though it is short, it doesn’t feel that way. It’s like you’re reading a complete novel. And I amire that skill of Ms. Rowell to make issues of societal class seem non existent when her characters get to know each other. We are all geeks. We are all nerds. There is no one above or below us.
And that ending! Heart eyes all around! 😍
In conclusion, I give this book 4/5 Royal Stars! 👏 Happy World Book Day book friends!
