Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

I have been seeing people raving about this book because of the feels and such but up until yesterday I actually don’t have an idea on what it’s about. I have this mind set to Holden’s books being a bit too overrated because I didn’t like All of it that much and automatically assumed that her other books are the same and I have never been so wrong.

So as I started reading, I knew this book will not end well. But despite all the warning signs, I still continued because well, Kate is one of the few people that can get away with being actually a good person. I usually like my protagonists bad and villain like but Kate is one of the few good fictional characters that I can tolerate. I love her.

I’m moving on now to the spoilery section and if you haven’t read the book then you should not hesitate and go pick it up too!

Are you ready? I’m giving this book 5 Royal Stars. I think that alone can give you all the reasons why you should read this book.

I knew it. I knew it from the start that she has this some kind of sickness and that she would either be dead or gone. I also knew it that Gus has a thing for her. At first I gave it a thought that maybe they are just friends and such but deep inside I know Gus loves her for sure so my heart breaks for Gus and for Keller and also everyone Kate left behind because she is such an amazing and positive person and really the personification of Bright Side. I may be feeling much more pity for Gus than Keller because Keller was loved by Kate. Gus was too, but not the way Gus loved Kate. It hurts me too much when people with a true good heart to die early. That’s why this book killed me. I am looking forward to reading Gus. 🙂

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading! 😉
